Great sophomore release from a new author.

I was thrilled to be selected as an influencer by author Amber Lynn Perry to promote the release of her second book, So True a Love, and to be given a free copy.

This followup to her debut novel, So Fair a Lady, does not suffer from a sophomore slump in any way. Sometimes sequels struggle because the characters are well known and already introduced, so the plot has to pick up quickly. There was no problem of that here. Things began happening quickly.

It was frustrating to see how Kitty handled being blackmailed, yet that made total sense when compounded with her refusal to support to the patriot cause. This book was very driven by Kitty's emotions, which was necessary due to the fact that she takes longer to make decisions than Eliza did in the first book. This was a great way to distinguish the personalities of the two sisters. While Eliza was quickly convinced to make decisions and follow through, Kitty wanted to be certain of something and was not easily swayed. She did exactly what she thought was right, which was true to her father's assessment of being stubborn and headstrong. Yet she was also compassionate and tenderhearted, resulting in a complex characterization.

Nathaniel served as a perfect foil for Kitty, and I enjoyed their interactions. He was just as stubborn and just as convinced of his beliefs being correct, but had to accept that some of his convictions were based on fear. It was very satisfying to watch him realize that he didn't have all of the answers and find some humility.

A quick note about something that might seem like a small detail but I loved - in both books, the author wrote from the villain's point of view. I thought she did so in a really profound way in this book especially. Although you could absolutely feel how despicable he was and that wasn't lessened by knowing his motivations, it gave the story plausibility and depth.

I absolutely love reading about the Colonial era, and I'm thrilled that such a gifted new author is passionate about setting her stories during such an exciting time and let me have a hand in her promotion.

Read it in one day! I just could not stop...

This sweet book gets 5 stars from me because I could not.put.it.down! I loved Kitty and Nathaniel, especially from their introductions in the first book in the series, "So Fair A Lady". Nathaniel is such a funny and likeable hero, I was eagerly awaiting the release of his story.
While there are many books in the Christian Historical Fiction genre that emphasize the details of the setting of the story, this is not one of them, in my opinion. That is to say, the backdrop is described well and the plot is intriguing, but there are many more pages dedicated to the romantic tension and encounters between Kitty and Nathaniel than the setting. And I'm fine with that! :) It's kind of nice to read a book where the leading characters are interacting on a frequent basis vs. long stretches apart or a lot of the plot played out until they meet up again. As soon as I finished it, I told my good friends they had to pick up this series! It is a sweet, swoon-worthy experience!

VERY ENJOYABLE!

I enjoyed the first book of this series very much, but enjoyed this second book in the series even more. The first two thirds of the book was a little repetitive for me, but necessary for laying the foundation for the two main characters, Kitty and Nathaniel. As the story progressed, I found the last third of the book VERY hard to put down; all of the situations and characters came into vivid excitement for me. The way the story moved to its conclusion was quite satisfying and believable; you could understand why the little, seemingly uninteresting people and incidents were necessary for pulling all the facts together at the end. I AM ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE NEXT BOOK!

How Odd Time Is !

This book is from 1968 but it's still a very good book to start your Odd Time studies with. You have to know how to read music to use it (if dont know how to do that you could check out the books by Robert Starer).
Although written by a very famous drummer this is not a drumset book, but an exercise book written to develop your sight reading skill and understanding of Odd Rhythms, and it is suitable for everyone no matter what instrument you play, the examples are not melodic, just written on one note, so the focus is on the Rhythm, and the examples are from simple to quite complicated.
The book deals with Rhythms in 3,5,6,7,8,9 and 12, with either the quarter or eighth or sixteenth note as the basic pulse. There are sections dealing with changing metres also. The book is about 130 pages so there is a lot of stuff here, the exercices start simple and then gradualy get more complicated.
A fine book, Highly Recommended.
Other good rhythm book Authors are Alan Dworsky, Gary Hess, Peter Magadini, Reinhard Flatichler, Gary Chaffee and Gavin Harrison.

be a god of all things rhythmic

This is the most intense and thorough advanced rhythmic reading text that you can probably find anywhere. I'm a professional guitarist who likes to play and write in a wacky fusion-esque style. Since tapping into this book my writing and improvising has morphed into realms that I never expected to ever experience. You should already have an okay understanding of basic sixteenth note rhythms before you jump into this book. To quickly advance to that level may I recommend Rhythmic Training by Robert Starer. If you want to take your reading, improvising and musicality to the ionosphere, these two books are the ticket !!

good book but too much unnecessary details in some specialties

Review:
Lab. mana. Is ok but too many IT stuff, chemistry is too hard and detailed, tons of toxicology and therapeutic drug monitoring that I do not think are important in pathology board exam as they are in chemistry exam, and their place should not be in this book, and taking that huge space and wasting board takers time, coags too many Q on rare syndromes and methodology, too much and unnecessary HLA compatibility questions, microbiology is OK overall. Blood bank questions are relatively few but too many detailed questions of apheresis and HPC!!. Molecular is either too easy or has too many questions focusing on rare entities like mitochondrial diseases. Overall putting too many questions focusing in details on rare aspect in different specialties in clinical pathology will not fit the main path of cp training of pathology resident, but it may fit subspecialties instead, and I don't think their place is right in this book for general CP boards.

Not Worth the Money

I purchased this book thinking that it would be helpful to me in my quest to identify Sarah Coventry jewelry. It has many lovely pictures, but hardly any names for the jewelry pieces shown. Since Sarah Coventry named so many of their items, I think it is necessary to have those names associated with the pieces. It does me no good to see a picture of what I already have and still cannot name it. The most helpful part of this book is in the back where the author has pictures of Sarah's catalog pages 1976, 1978, and 1980. Jewelry can be identified there if you have a magnifying glass. Also, I believe the author has unrealistic values on the jewelry shown. I see sets that she has valued at $45-$65 selling online for much less.

For any even quasi-serious collector, this book is worse than unhelpful; it is erroneous. Less than 10% of the pieces are identified...and some of them improperly. One of the most iconic designs, "Midnight Magic" is identified as "Midnight Madness", twice. The "Pearl Flight" pin is described as a 'shell design pin'. Most pieces are simply described, for example, as 'necklace and matching bracelet.' No dates are referenced. A tremendous disappointment. You can learn much more about Sarah Coventry jewelry on ebay and Google. One plus...it's a great workbook for writing in your own identifications and catching the author's errors ;-)
