Frank Meyers has been playing, repairing, studying, collecting and researching guitars since the 1990s. His passion for guitars was ignited with his first electric guitar, a 1963 Japanese Fujigen EJ2. Since then, he has documented the stories and histories of hundreds of other early bizarre, off-brand guitars, has written numerous articles for publications (including Premier Guitar and Japanese Music Trades) and his own website www.DrowninginGuitars.com. Frank lives with his family in the rolling hills of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Nice book for the really old stuff.

You want this book to have Orville, Greco, Burny ,Navigator and the rest .But guess what, it doesn't have any of them. If you are into the oddball 60 s stuff that mostly played like crap then yea, this is the book for you. It is well written just make sure you are buying it for the right models.

Unexpected Greatness....

I was definitely not prepared for what I was getting with this book! I'm used to guitar books with one glossy, high res pic of a single guitar per page and a brief couple of paragraphs. This book has wonderful pictures taken from advertising, shots for the book as well as historical pictures from the guitar firms themselves.

The writing is outstanding and this book is a fantastic chronicle for someone that had no idea Japan had played such an integral part of the music revolution. I look at these guitars through very different eyes now and I'm guessing this will create a collectors market (if it doesn't already exist) for these beautiful instruments.

I highly recommend this book, it cannot be perused or read in a few hours. The pictures alone gobble up a lot of time. The histories and back stories will drive you to Google to look for more info as well.

My only wish is for a second book! Maybe something in collaboration with Deke Dickerson: Frank could call it "Teisco in the Attic". I'm sure that between the production in Japan and the demand in the US and around the world, there are many stories yet to be told about these wonderful guitars.

This book and the wonderful guitars it contains reminds me of a quote from the movie Ratatouille: "Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist *can* come from *anywhere*. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more." It is difficult to imagine more unpretententious origins than the guitars, men and women contained in this book yet it is likely they could be some of the most innovative instruments ever produced and most assuredly this book has left me hungry for more.

This is just an incredible book. Frank Meyers has put so much time and research into this book and it really shows. This is the definitive reference for vintage Japanese guitars. If you want to know more about these great instruments, this is essential reading.

I bought this book spontaneously thinking it was going to be non-fiction. It turns out that it's hybrid, if you will. It gives facts about presidents through a fictional story. I'm not displeased. Overall I think it's a good introduction about the holiday for young children.

Impossible to Read

I ordered this book because I could not find my copy of the Revised Edition, a book that is worth reading and studying over and over. I thought so much of the book and its lessons that I decided to order the newest edition. The day before the new edition arrived I found my dog-eared, page-stained copy of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and revisited a couple of my favorite pages.

Today the newest edition arrived. It might be a masterpiece in it's genre, but I'll never know. The type face is so small I, literally, cannot read the side bars, and reading the body text is not much better. The amount of ink used for the impressions is minimal and adds to the difficulties. A book does no good if half of it cannot be read and the other half is difficult to read due to typeface or any other physical limits. A direct comparison of font size between the two books makes it very apparent it isn't just a grumpy whiny old man's grump of the day.

Publisher should be ashamed. If I can read the last edition with no problems I think I should be permitted to read the latest edition just as easily.

This 4th edition is a disappointment.

The '89 edition is far superior to the 4th. In the 4th, the paper is thin enough to see through. Many of the drawing instructions are reproduced far too light and hard to see, much less to study. The chapter on color is GONE. Most of the interesting and informative margin notes are gone (though the space is still there), and the few that are there are in print so tiny it's not easy to read. In chapter 6, the student is advised to lift lights to create shadows, but this is not really taught until chapter 10 on lights and shadows. Not a bad product, but if you get the items listed in the main book, you don't need to buy this. I was excited to start learning how to draw, so i bought them both at the same time. Save your money - all you need is the book.

His 2nd Edition is even more helpful

This is the First Edition - his Second Edition has even more helpful information. Thankfully, it is written to be understood, in the straight-forward manner appreciated by folks who are seriously looking for a healthier way of life and/or how to prevent and survive cancer WITHOUT caustic chemicals, radiation and surgery. Oncologists tell their patients they can eat whatever they want to because they have no way of guaranteeing their conventional methods will "cure" cancer so what difference would it make what they ate? Actually, it makes a HUGE difference but you'd never know it from your doctor. The information in Killing Cancer - Not People is the result of many years of research and dedication to learning how to keep our bodies healthy in order to best prevent disease, and how to help our body heal itself as God intended - naturally. NOT "being a doctor" is actually an advantage when it comes to interviewing ordinary people who underwent conventional "cures" only to find their condition worsened, people who made the decision soon enough to seek an alternative treatment to drugs, real doctors and clinics who offer natural, non-chemical treatments, and then be able to compile his findings in book form to be shared with his fellow man. You cannot make an informed decision about your health unless you've "done your homework". This book should be #1 in your library if you're serious about healthy living. Factual and Detailed

Mr. Wright's book is quite detailed on this subject, and while it does not carry the bibliography you'd likely find from someone with a scientific or medical background, (Wright is not a doctor), the book almost always references his source, some of which comes from data derived from the net. Published internet data is no less true than printed data, but if you have a prejudice about this, don't buy it. In my view, Wright's book and message is very important for anyone seeking to prevent or heal cancer without chemo, surgery or radiation. His tone is a little caustic to the average American who doesn't take care of themselves, very caustic to the FDA and doctors who don't seem to "get it" that Nature truly heals, and drugs do not... so if you can't tolerate that tone, don't get it. But if you want to know the truth about what works to heal cancer and could potentially save your life, well, many folks in the know (like Bill Henderson for one), say it's the best book they've ever read on how to do it. Before I opened the first page, I was afraid of this disease. Now I think of cancer as no more threatening to my life and health than any other degenerative disease, and I've already implemented the prevention strategies into my every day lifestyle. If all Americans absorbed the same information and lived accordingly, we'd see our cancer stats plummet. I like the e-book option because you can type a search term into the document which is very handy, plus it costs less than used softcovers, from over at AmericanACI.org. I give it four out of five, because five for me, is perfection. (And the only book that deserves that, is the Good Book, at least in my book.)

Amazing, but...

The book is truly amazing.. However, please DO NOT read this book as a first one as you start your quest for alternative cancer fights or battle for your own or one of your loved one's life. Simply because Bob is so sure in what he preaches he isn't focused into explaining things in details to a reader, I mean he just doesn't want to spend much energy on persuading the reader into his beliefs.
For me it was totally OK because I have researched (and still am) the topic in numerous places, so for me Bob's book came as a beautiful, simple, easy to read reminder, check-list, call it what you like... But if it were the first thing to come into my hands, I guess I could have some doubts on some of teh topics. I would recommend reading Susanne Sommers' Knockout first and than going back to Killing cancer!
To leave no doubt, I definitely recommend Bob's book in everybody's library!
