About the Author

Richard E. "Dick" Crandall is a professor in the College of Business at Appalachian State University (ASU), Boone, North Carolina. He is certified in production and inventory management (CFPIM) and as a supply chain professional (CSCP) by APICS-The Association for Operations Management. He earned his PhD in production/operations management from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and is a registered professional engineer and a certified public accountant. Prior to joining ASU, Dick worked as an industrial engineer and in management positions for manufacturing and service companies. He was a consultant with a major consulting firm, installing systems for both operations and financial applications. With Rick Crandall, he coauthored the book Vanishing Boundaries, How Integrating Manufacturing and Services Creates Customer Value, by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group.

William "Rick" Crandall currently serves as a professor of management in the School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He received his PhD in business administration with a focus on organizational behavior and human resource management from the University of Memphis, Tennessee. His primary research interest is in the area of crisis management, helping organizations cope with catastrophic events. He is the author of the book, Crisis Management in the New Strategy Landscape (coauthored with John Parnell and John Spillan, also of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke), released by Sage Publications. He is also active in researching issues related to supply chain management. Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Crandall worked in management for ARA Services (now ARAMARK), a service management firm based in Philadelphia.

Dr. Charlie C. Chen was educated at Claremont Graduate University, California, and earned his PhD in management information systems. He is a professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems at Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina. His research interests include project management and supply chain management. He is a member of the Association for Information Systems and Decision Sciences Institute and is certified by the Project Management Institute as a project management professional (PMP). Dr. Chen has published in journals such as Communications of Association for Information Systems, Behaviour and Information Technology, Journal of Knowledge Management Research & Practice, and the Journal of Information Systems Education. Dr. Chen is a dedicated transnational scholar and a trip leader for study-abroad programs in Asia (Japan and Taiwan).

A strong Queen's Gambit-repertoire for aggressive d4-players

British grandmaster Chris Ward is known for the quality of his books. His works about the Sicilian Dragon are outstanding, full of ideas and inspiration. His books about the Nimzo-Indian, especially about the "Kasparov-Variation", are good to very good - for one simple reason: Ward practises what he preaches and knows his stuff! As a reader of his books, you can be sure to have an expert at your side guiding you along. And - unlike just too many other authors - he does not shy away from giving away secrets that other grandmasters would have kept their own. Ward truely knows the Queen's Gambit!

First the sad thing, then the critic followed by nothing but praise: Ward dedicates the book to his cousin who recently died tragically. The critic: though I had been looking for it for some time, I could not find a biography. So, unfortunately, we do not know which sources and books he used which is a pity in my eyes. But at the end of the book there is a very good

index of variations.

Ward's book is aimed at first players who like to play the Queen's Gambit. Thus, he deals with everything after the moves 1 d4 d5, 2 c4. The presentation was quite unusual for Everyman: first of all, the pure theory is given in good old famous tree-format with complete annotated games following thereafter. Of course, there is nothing new with this concept, but I like it very much and hope to see more of it in future chess literature.

The repertoire itself is quite sharp and will suit aggressive d4-players best. Ward offers 3 e4 against the QGA, the exchange variation with Bg5 and Nge2 against the QGD plus 3 Nc3 followed by 4 e3 against the Slav with Shabalov's gambit with g4!? (of course, you will say!) against the Semi-Slav. He also gives quite good antidotes to rare lines such as the Albin countergambit, Tchigorin's Defence, 2 ...Bf5, 2 ...Nf6, 2 ...c5 etc. Ward's repertoire in the Queen's Gambit differs almost completely from what Palliser gave us in his "Play 1d4!" and that is what I like about both books! While Palliser presented a whole d4-repertoire - including e.g. the Indian defences, the

Dutch etc - his choices in the Queen's Gambit were well chosen, but rather solid. Those who own Palliser's book and would like to add some more aggressive lines in the Queen's Gambit, should definitely buy Ward's book! I strongly recommened Ward's book to all the other Queen's Gambit-players as well, of course!

In a nutshell: a strong Queen's Gambit-repertoire for aggressive-minded d4-players, written by an expert on this topic who knows how to fill a book with enthusiasm! Great stuff!

great prequel!

This is the prequel to Falling for my Best Friend's Brother. I recommend reading One Night Stand in order to have the back history of the characters. This is a great story that shows the history behind Alice and Aiden and we get to understand what happened to them years before. Alice's plan to get Aiden to fall for her starts to form. Recommend to read Falling For My Best Friend's Brother after you read this.

Buy it, Read it, Love it!

Loved it! Jamie just keeps cranking out winners! She is on my short list of must reads. No matter what she writes, I know I am going to enjoy it! This is a bit of a continuation of of Liv and Xander's story to, so you really want to read their book first, to fully appreciate this one. This Prequel is the first three chapters of the next book and quickly became a page turner for me.

There's allot happening in this novella.....jealousy, lust, a secret, the reveal of the secret and a kinky hunch about our hero!

Although I would have to say that Alice is a little on the immature side, I have a feeling if Xander's hunch is correct about Aiden, then we are in for a treat! Can't wait to see how Alice adjusts to that piece of news or rather how they keep it from Liv! Can't wait to read the full novel!! Bring it on!

I can't wait for the next book............

The was a prequel and short novella to an upcoming book.... Falling For My Best Friend's Brother. It was a quick read and gives you just enough to get you pulled into the story of Alice and Aiden. You are told the story from the present to begin with knowing there is a secret from the past that hasn't been revealed yet. What will happen though once that secret comes out? Will the line have been crossed, could 'too far' have been reached??? Just when we think we might not know exactly what happened we get to have a glimpse of the past.... and it's juicy!!!! It leaves us wanting so much more! I can't wait to see what is in store for us in Falling For My Best Friend's Brother.

The story starts with two best friends Liv and Alice, who are roommates. We get a little bit of their life and interactions and are introduced to Liv's boyfriend Xander. I was a little confused with the dynamic between Alice and Xander because they seemed to have a love/hate relationship. I couldn't tell if they truly disliked each other or not. I was intrigued with the conclusion that Xander had at the end of the novella regarding Aiden. How exciting it would be if he was correct. I think Alice would be in for a treat if that was the case.

I look forward to diving further into what may or may not come of Alice and Aiden as we embark on their journey in Falling for My Best Friend's Brother.

Not bad..

This is an ok book, wish it was organized a lot better though, namely the question and answer sections. Since its a Q&A book, it would seem inherent that they should organize it better, but they definitely fail in that.

It's hard to find good books on Shorin-Ryu. It could be that I'm picky since I've been studying martial arts since I was 7-- There are a few things I would have to disagree on. They seem to try to go into the philosophy of that art without fully understanding some elements? But I'm no master so maybe I'm missing something.

They give strong opinions without backing them up, which is a bit irritating too. I think if your going to state that you should study weapons before open hand, you should give a darn good reason. Some research is just down right wrong, not sure where they got it from?

but all in all, it has a lot of info you wont find anywhere else. It's a great read, but take it with a grain of salt.

This book was recommended to me by my sensei and I am pleased to share it with others. This is a book of lists, quizzes, and general tips and information presented in an extremely well-organized and interesting manner. It clearly points out key information and has helped me greatly with my studies. Most sources are either overwhelmingly detailed or oversimplified and it is difficult to sort through and figure out key concepts. This book does the work for you and is a convenient (and very portable!) challenging study guide.

This is one of the very few sources of information about Fukyugata San available, with photos and descriptions of Ueshiro Sensei performing the kata.

There are a few errors/debatable answers in the book (the kata information list is a good example), so if something doesn't seem right to you, check other places. This book is by no means a complete resource, but is invaluable when used with other sources of information.

As a student of Mr. Scaglione, I can whole heartedly reccommend this book. He writes the same information in his book as he teaches in his classes, and this book is considered a bible throughout the school(currently 19 dojos). This book offers clear, concise information about the origins of karate and it's kata, about the courtesy involved, and about all the "details" associated with the art. Learn how to store your gi, how to tie your belt, the japanese terms commonly used in karate class, the traditions of the art, etc. This book is not meant to teach karate, but it is an invaluable source for any student of karate.

Wendy grew up in a small town near Buffalo and graduated from SUNY Fredonia. She moved to Manhattan and became an editor before selling her first novel in 1992.
She now lives in the New York City suburbs with her husband and sons. A vocal and active supporter of Relay for Life, Support Connection, and the American Cancer Society, she was a 2012 Ovarian Cancer Awareness month national spokesperson for the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. As an animal rights advocate, she fosters for various rescue organizations.

TO 1963 AND BEYOND!

Abbey Harmon (called "Hanover" the back of the book cover), 17, her parents and 10-year-old brothers Peter and Paul spend a summer in the sleepy Massachusetts town of Seacliffe. Rife with history pertaining to the infamous Salem witch trials, Seacliffe remains enshrouded in mystery as does the house. It has a history steeped in history related to the Salem trials; the illustrious Crane family built the house and supposedly their daughter Felicity was hanged for witchcraft.

Abbey, a Manhattanite detests the summer home immediately. She and her younger brother Peter sense something wrong in the summer house and sense the presence of spectors. Her summer is brightened when a pen pal in Liverpool mails her a Beatles' single and pendant to match; she meets the shy, somewhat silly and immature Katie Kennedy and her older brother, Riley.

Abbey is determined not to like anything or anybody in Seacliffe. Her defenses get chipped away by the cheerful Katie and when Abbey discovers her steady in Manhattan has been seeing other people, she realizes that maybe Riley isn't so bad after all.

The other discovery Abbey makes is in the history of the house. It seems to have a link to the 1690s. Katie knows about a closet in the "keeping room" that is really a link to that era. Abbey goes through the closet, not unlike Lucy in "The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" and uncovers some startling secrets. The worlds of the 1690s and the early 1960s collide almost painfully, yet the author pulls it off with finesse.

Questions remain. Can history be changed? Can Felicity be spared the hangman's noose? What of those who knew Felicity? And will Abbey return? What parts do Riley and Katie play? All in all, a masterfully crafted book that will certainly hold readers' interest, regardless of age.

Wonderful blend of time travel, mystery, and romance.

Both young adult readers and their parents will enjoy WITCH HUNT. I am so pleased that Kensington has this book back in print!
Be sure to read Wendy Corsi Staub's many other novels. She has written in a wide range of genres.

WOW THIS IS A GREAT BOOK

I love this book. I've read it 5 times. And each time it seems to get BETTER! If thats even possibly. I think it's pieced together really good too.
