About the Author
Born in 1864 in England, James Allen took his first job at fifteen to support his family. Allen worked as a factory knitter and later a private secretary before writing his first book, "From Poverty to Power", in 1901. In 1903 he completed his best-known work: "As a Man Thinketh". Allen wrote nineteen books, including his spiritual journal, "The Light of Reason, "before he died at age forty-seven in 1912. While not widely known during his lifetime, Allen later came to be seen as a pioneer of contemporary inspirational literature.

El pensamiento de James Allen influyo en personalidades como Norman Vincent Peale y Dale Carnegie. Me atreveria a especular (y no dudo la probabilidad) de que tambien haya influido en autores modernos como Rhonda Byrne, con "El secreto", u otras obras y autores similares; debida a que la obra lleva intr�nsecamente una sabidur�a similar a estas.

El libro es corto pero con informacion trascendental y cargado de buenos principios, viene en tapa dura, esta impreso en papel satinado de alta calidad y es ilustrado.

It's Not Just The Hunger Games

For those of you who've been saying "Oh, it's just another Hunger Games. Big whoop," you need to shut your mouths right now before the rest of your brain falls out. This is not The Hunger Games. Aside from the fact that it includes a televised event of children fighting each other in a dystopian universe (which is not an idea unique to The Hunger Games originally anyway), these two books really don't have that much in common.

One of my personal favorite premises in this book is the fact that anyone who is caught committing a crime become a Belligerent and lives out the rest of his or her life a either a servant, a labor worker, an entertainer, or a modern day gladiator. Of course, committing a crime isn't nearly the same thing as getting caught committing a crime, but talk about a motivator to keep the public in line! Do something illegal and you get a band strapped around your wrist that will inject a sedative into your bloodstream the moment you try to resist.

Not only does becoming a Belligerent mean that you practically forfeit all control over your own life, but you have to give it to someone else. You are now property of an Owner that has every power to make you do whatever they want. That's where Ryan ends up after he tries to steal the car of a wealthy Owner who's determined to have his team win the Vicara games for reasons that are never fully clear to us. All we know is that Shifter, the man that's now calling the shots of his life, saw something in Ryan that he needed and decided to take it.

Shifter's team is probably the best thing about Belligerent. Meeting them way by far my favorite part of the novel, and they are always the easiest characters for me to identify. They're all so unique and obviously became Belligerents in different manners, yet their differences are probably the very reason they work so well together. They all need each other in some way, and I love the family dynamic that B.N. Mauldin creates with them.

My one criticism for this book lies with the ending. Cliffhangers, man. Cliffhangers. Belligerent is obviously supposed to be part of a series, but what a place to end! Do you think you could have left me with even more to wonder about?

Good Book

Belligerent is a really good book, I'm glad I stumbled onto it. Once I got started I just chewed through it. I liked the setting and characters, I found myself caring about them pretty quickly. Harder to pull off given the number of characters. Of course as many good books do, it got me thinking of campaigns and character ideas. I could have read a good bit more about these Belligerents and I look forward to the next book. Strangely my only issue was with calling people belligerents, it's a good word, but for some reason it rubbed me the wrong way for the protagonists. Of course if that's the worst I have to say, how bad is it.

Familiar but Exciting!!

Harry Potter meets Hunger Games is right! This is entirely an excellent read :) There were some parts that felt a little awkward to read, but I feel like it's comparable to the pilot episode of a show you know you're gonna love. Sure, sometimes background info is a little jumbled, but it sets the scene for a beautiful story in a vibrant fantasy world. Full of vibrant and diverse characters, as well as that "kid drama/adult drama" combo we've come to love in so many excellent "New Adult" stories

Some good models for the advanded folder

Instructions are clear and well printed, with very few mistakes which do not distract from the overall quality of the book and the models. Full colour photos of actual completed models are included for additional guidance as well as sizing ratio to give an idea of how large/small the final model will be compared to the initial paper size. All but one of the models (Airbus 320) are folded from a single piece of square paper. I found a couple of the models looked a bit odd (and it wasn't just me as the book's photos show them, such as the autogyros, equally unusual), and very difficult to hold their form due to many layers of paper, but there are some excellent models here (notably, Messershmitt Bf109).

Certain 'standard' steps such as forming wheels at the end of landing gear struts are omitted and this makes the book aimed at the more advanced/experienced folder.

There are some great techniques here, to produce the multiple sets of propellers for example, that you can use in your own designs. Overall, a very good addition to the origami book catalogue. Recommended.

I've been doing origami for many years, and found I had problems with some of the models in this book because the transitions weren't as clear as I needed them. I suspect those with more advanced skills could make sens of them, but I wasn't happy with a few of the models because I didn't feel the diagrams were clear enough.

This cards are very powerful I had been able to discover many things about myself and had so much guidance in less than a week. I strongly recommend this cards to anyone that feels a deep connection with the cosmos and the stars. I had experienced synchronicity and dream guidance in less than a week. I am very happy with the cards and I am trying to do readings to as many people I can. The card do most of the work you only need to trust them and if possible learn more about the Mayan. The author understands the mayan cosmic vision very well and her intuitive interpretation is excellent! I do recommend to read about the mayan just to understand more the meaning of nawales or strat glimpse like the author call them. The sacred number are awesome and very powerful.

Practical Yet Profound

This is the first book I have read since being introduced to the Mayan 13-moon calendar and it has been a tremendous help in understanding (or rather, remembering) this synchronistic system of understanding ourselves and others as we truly are in a galactic sense. I not only was able to go deep into my own galactic tone and seal, but also the tones and seals of people important in my life. I have also found it helpful to read about the tone and seal that applies to each day (which are easily found on the home page of [...]. The book comes with a set of oracle cards that help focus the energy of the day or the issue you are using them to find out more about. When I first looked at the card of my husband's seal I just got lost in it and couldn't put it down--it was so beautiful. I highly recommend this excellent tool for returning to the vibration of higher consciousness.

About the Author
John E. Gamble is currently Associate Dean and Professor of Management in the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama. His teaching specialty at USA is strategic management and he also conducts a course in strategic management in Germany, which is sponsored by the University of Applied Sciences in Worms. Dr. Gamble's research interests center on strategic issues in entrepreneurial, health care, and manufacturing settings. His work has been published in various scholarly journals and he is the author or co-author of more than 50 case studies published in an assortment of strategic management and strategic marketing texts. He has done consulting on industry and market analysis for clients in a diverse mix of industries. Professor Gamble received his Ph.D. in management from the University of Alabama in 1995. Dr. Gamble also has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama.

Margaret A. Peteraf is the Leon E. Williams Professor of Management at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. She is an internationally recognized scholar of strategic management, with a long list of publications in top management journals. She has earned myriad honors and prizes for her contributions, including the 1999 Strategic Management Society Best Paper Award recognizing the deep influence of her work on the field of Strategic Management. Professor Peteraf is a fellow of the Strategy�Management Society and the Academy of Management. She served previously as a member of the Board of Governors of both the Society and the Academy of Management and as Chair of the Business Policy and Strategy Division of the Academy. Professor Peteraf earned her Ph.D., M.A., and M.Phil. at Yale�University and held previous faculty appointments at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of�Management and at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. �

�Thompson’s teaching experience includes 25+ years at the University of Alabama, and 3 years at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He earned a BS in Liberal Arts and a PhD in Economics from the University of Tennessee. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the Academy of Management, and the Southern Management Association. He has also served on the editorial boards of a number of journals, including the Journal of Economics and Finance, the Journal of Management, the Journal of Management Case Studies, and the Journal of Management Issues.

Does NOT Come with Connect Code

Just a heads up, this did not come with the necessary connect code to complete the homework and quizzes. I had to drop an additional $130 to buy it online from the publisher. Do yourself a favor and either buy the book somewhere else that provides the code, or rent the thing and buy the Connect code yourself.

Lovely book about trying new things and dealing with fears

I picked up a Houyndsley and Catina book at the library by chance and loved it, as did my daughter. They are well written and are about the relationships between friends. Love them! This particular book is about trying and learning how to do new things, and getting past fears.
